Introducing Shamir Spark: A Revolutionary PD Measurement System.
The traditional eyeglass fitting process often involves numerous measurements using various tools. Shamir Spark disrupts this by offering a quick, accurate, and comfortable solution for Eye Care Professionals (ECPs). This advanced electro-optic system utilizes a single photograph to capture all the necessary measurements for new eyeglass frames. It eliminates the need for physical devices like rulers or clips, adding a touch of convenience and comfort for patients. Beyond functionality, Spark also serves as a fashionable mirror, seamlessly integrating into the ECP's practice environment.
Improve Shamir Spark with AI-Powered Measurements and a Modern Interface
Shamir is currently developing a groundbreaking enhancement for Spark, introducing artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. This AI model will enable rapid measurement of customer data and automatic identification of all essential parameters for crafting personalized eyeglasses.
While Spark is an established product, its user interface has become somewhat outdated and requires improvements:
The key objective is to create a user interface that not only facilitates seamless AI-powered measurements but also resonates with the brand's identity and appeals to a modern audience.

Navigating the Optics Industry and Embracing Innovation
The challenges involved bridging the gap between the existing product and the innovative AI features, while also ensuring a seamless user experience across multiple platforms and effectively communicating the value proposition of the AI-powered enhancements.
Delving into the World of Optics: Embarking on this project required a deep dive into the unfamiliar realm of optics. To ensure the project's success, it was crucial to gain a thorough understanding of the industry, the specific needs of optometrists, and their typical workflow within clinics.
Integrating AI and Preserving Existing Functionality: The challenge lay in seamlessly integrating the AI model into the product while simultaneously redesigning the entire interface. This involved ensuring compatibility with the existing manual workflow, which doesn't incorporate the AI-powered features, thus allowing current users to continue using the familiar product with minimal disruption.
Expanding Multi-Platform Accessibility: The goal was to extend the product's functionality to tablets and mobile devices, which previously offered only basic features and lacked the complete measurement process.
Visualizing the AI Advantage: A key challenge was effectively communicating the power of AI to users. The interface needed to clearly demonstrate the AI-powered measurement process, creating a sense of excitement about the transformative capabilities of this new technology.
A Unified Interface, Crystal-Clear Information, and Building Trust in AI.
Holistic User Interface: A cohesive and streamlined user interface was designed to seamlessly integrate the new Spark and its enhanced capabilities for both existing and potential AI-powered model users.
Clear and Transparent Measurement Display: The design of the measurement screens prioritized functionality and information delivery. This aimed to create transparency and clarity regarding the measurement results, fostering trust and confidence in the overall system and the AI model among optometrists.
Animated Storyboard for the Loading Screen: An engaging animated storyboard was developed for the central loading screen. This visually captivating representation showcased the entire automated process behind the scenes, highlighting the "magic" that occurs while simultaneously providing professional measurement information. This further reinforced user confidence in the AI model's capabilities.
Responsive Interface for Multi-Platform Accessibility: The interface was meticulously designed to adapt responsively across various platforms, ensuring optimal usability and providing optometrists with greater flexibility and mobility.
In essence, the solutions focused on creating a user-centric interface, providing clear information, and enhancing user confidence in the AI-powered features, all while ensuring seamless accessibility across different platforms.

A Clean and Elegant Interface Symbolizing Shamir's Innovation
The new Shamir interface exudes elegance and simplicity, featuring a light-colored background complemented by vibrant and dominant brand colors. This contrast effectively conveys the boldness and groundbreaking spirit that define Shamir's values.
The choice of a bright and clean interface stems from the need to provide an optimal working environment for optometrists, who typically operate in well-lit clinics during the day. Inspiration for this minimalist approach, coupled with the use of rounded lines, draws from the world of optics itself. This includes the clinic walls adorned with an array of eyeglass frames and round lenses, the white coats worn by optometrists, and the overall sense of laboratory-like cleanliness that characterizes these settings.
The interface's color palette aligns with Shamir's updated brand guidelines, incorporating a refreshed version of the company's signature blue alongside a new accent color. This combination highlights Shamir's commitment to innovation while maintaining a cohesive brand identity.The overall design concept aims to create a user interface that not only facilitates efficient AI-powered measurements but also visually embodies Shamir's brand essence and appeals to modern optometrists.

A Visual Journey Through the Measurement Process.
To improve user experience and provide transparency into the automated measurement process, we created a detailed storyboard featuring a custom loading animation. This animation visually represents the AI's work behind the scenes, from facial feature detection to pupil identification, frame localization, and measurement point placement.
By providing a clear and informative visual representation of the process, we aim to enhance user understanding and engagement, while also highlighting the efficiency and accuracy of our AI-powered technology.
